What you need to know about the O2 and Virgin Media merge.

On the 7th of May, Telefonica, the parent company of our partners O2, agreed terms with Liberty Global to create a 50:50 joint venture in the UK, bringing together Telefonica UK and Virgin Media. Combing Virgin Media, the U.K.’s fastest broadband network, and O2, the country’s largest mobile platform

This combination creates a stronger fixed and mobile competitor in the U.K. market, supporting the expansion of Virgin Media’s giga-ready network and O2’s 5G mobile deployment for the benefit of consumers, businesses and the public sector.

This potential deal will create a national connectivity champion, bringing together the UK’s greatest mobile and fixed gigabit infrastructure at a time when the demand for connectivity has never been greater. This fully converged platform will put customers first and have the scale to innovate in the changing digital landscape, investing £10 billion in the U.K. over the next five years

What does this mean for Daisy Connect and our customers?

We are very excited to see what is in store our customers, and for us as a business. In the future, if the deal goes ahead, our customers will benefit from better choice, greater access to next-generation connectivity, better packages and truly converged offerings across mobile and broadband..

But for now? Nothing will change

We will of course keep you updated on further exciting developments. But this announcement is the first step in a long process and will likely take until mid-2021 to complete. So at this time, we aren’t expecting any changes to you coverage, service or networking.
